One week home....

Today marks one week that we are home and things are going beautifully. Madison is settling in more and more and adjusting nicely in our little family. Overall, she is very good, but she has her moments of being a bit fresh, digging her heals in and not listening when clearly she understands. Nothing out of the ordinary. She gets easily overstimulated, evidenced by her behavior when our wonderful neighbors dropped by to meet her last night. My head was spinning LOL. It was a great visit and it was nice to be in company of people who "get" it. They themselves have a little one adopted from China! They have a pretty amazing little girl from Vietnam as well.

Our initial transition to meeting our dog was a bit rocky. Madi was terrified of the dog for about 3 days, screaming hysterically ever time the dog glanced her way. By day 4 she was all over the dog and has been since. We do have to give the dog a break from time to time as Miss Madi is a bit overwhelming to her LOL.

We have had a couple of doctor visits and have more on the horizon. She will be getting glasses. How cute will she be in her little specs? Hopefully the glasses do their job, but patching is probably in the future and possibly surgery. We will see how that goes.

She is picking up English like crazy. I am so amazed at the resiliency of this little girl. I have decided to enroll her in school in the next couple of weeks. I have spoken to the school and everyone is so excited to meet her. I am so happy to be where I am. She will need PT services as well as ESL. The psychologist agreed that the validity of a full psychological would be questionable given the fact that she speaks a dialect of Mandarin. I was relieved to hear that she would not have to be tested. It would clearly be a waste of time at this point. She can still get her ESL and PT services. Everyone agrees that we will ease her into school and follow her lead. Honestly, I think she is more ready for it than I am. She misses the girls when they are off to school and hugs them like crazy when they come home. It is so cute.

Here are some pictures that we have taken this week. The weather has been beautiful and so we were able to go out and run off some energy. Madison has plenty of that to run off....I am exhausted LOL.
