It is official. The plane tickets have been purchased. Let me preface by saying that flying is not one of my favorite things to do. I do it, I don’t HATE it, but I don’t love it either. I will get my share of “fly” time on this trip that is for sure. I am flying Cathay Pacific this time and my agent assures me I will love it. My itinerary is as follows:
December 15th, 10pm, leave JFK and fly to Vancouver. (6 hours)
Get off of plane for refueling and re-board.
Fly from Vancouver to Hong Kong. (14 hours)
Fly from Hong Kong to Fuzhou. (90 minutes).
Date of arrival: Saturday, December 17th 10:20am (don’t forget that China is 13 hours ahead of us).
I will stay in Fuzhou, which is the Province that Madi currently lives in. I will receive her on Monday, December 19th at the Provincial Civil Affairs Office.
I will stay in Fuzhou as the adoption paperwork is completed and we wait for her passport to be processed. Lots of time to explore the area and to bond.
On either December 23rd or 24th, we will leave Fuzhou and fly to Guangzhou (Guongdong Province) so that we can complete the American portion of the adoption/citizenship paperwork. Merry Christmas to us!!! This is the FUN part of the trip as many of you may know I LOVE to shop. I have done some pretty decent power shopping in Guangzhou in the past. I may not be able to manage any extra suitcases to bring my purchases back so my shooping frenzy will be slightly altered this trip LOL. Yeah, that and funds LOL.
Madi’s appointment at the American Consulate is December 29th. On December 30th we recieve her Visa. HOORAY!!
On December 31st at 9:50am, we leave Guangzhou headed for Hong Kong (1 hour flight).
We fly from Hong Kong direct back to JFK (16 hours of flying time), arriving at 7:15pm on December 31st. Madi gets off of the plane as an American Citizen. Mommy passes out from exhaustion. Of course, after she holds ALL THREE of her beautiful girls all at the same time!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I am over my upset about traveling during Christmas. The girls are fine with it now too. We have the computer all set up so that we can SKYPE often and I can "watch" them open their presents on Christmas morning. Luckily we all realize that Christmas is more than just "the day" and Madi needs to come home more than I need to be home on "the day." Santa will come on Christmas and then we will celebrate Christmas and New Years together as a family on January 1st. I couldn't be more excited to be getting this show on the road. Hang tight, sweetheart, Mama is on her way!!!!
