First night together as a forever family

Madi is doing awesome. Aside from some tears early on, she has been
smiley, engaging, and feisty. She ate well. Too well. I had to stop
her as I thought she was going to get sick, but trust me, she ate most
of that huge dish of noodles and made a decent dent in my fries as well.
I am using Google translate and I wasn't too sure if she was
understanding it. But, when I wrote that she "will always have enough
food and that there would be more later" she finally willingly gave me
her dish. She doesn't seem to respond to much of what I put in to
Google but THAT she understood. Oh, and also "Mama said NOT to touch
the phone." She covered her eyes when I typed in that LOL. Let's just
say she called the main desk three times and she could be ordering room
service for all I know.

She also slept well. When I first put her into bed, her eyes welled up.
Poor thing was trying so hard not to cry. I just rubbed her back and
held her hand and she quickly fell asleep. That was around 9pm. She
woke up around 5am. She woke up full of energy. She doesn't stop for 2
seconds. She is testing me to see how much she can get away with. She
looks at me to make sure I am watching her (pick up the phone, climb on
the end table, etc.) and laughs when I tell her no. Totally attention
seeking LOL. I will have to figure out how to discipline her gently and
to let her know she needs to be safe and to listen to her Mama. LOL.

She has a lot to say in Chinese and repeats a lot of English words. She
gets her needs across. She is just wonderful and I can't believe how
well she is doing in less than 24 hours. I am not fooled by this easy
transition. I know that the testing will continue and we will have our
ups and downs. But, I am thankful that she is doing as well as she is.
We will see the orphanage staff again today, so I am curious as to how
she will react. We are also taking the 3 hour drive (one way) to the
orphanage on Wednesday. All necessary things in order for her to have
some sense of closure. As much as a 6 year old can understand.

She is little, but she is solid. She is stockier than Alyssa but quite a
bit shorter. I need to get her some shoes today. The shoes she came
with are quite a bit too big and are contributing to her already
difficult time with balance. She is as perfect as her paperwork
described her and there are no surprises.

More later....

Thanks for following along!!

Yeah!!!! Madison is beautiful and looks so happy with her mama! It looks gorgeous where you are. The transition seems like it's going well. :)

Give her a big hug from me! (And one to Susie and tell the director hi as well.) I still have the photo book to send you from our trip.

Love the photos and hearing about the antics.
