6 more weeks until summer vacation!!!

The winding down of the school year is upon us and the usual activities and money requests from school roll in on a daily basis. The girls are ready for the school year to come to an end and to begin enjoying the lazy days of summer. That is if it ever gets here...the Spring has been unseasonably cool in NY and we have yet to have a shorts and t-shirt kind of day. I think we are going to skip right over the beautiful sunny days of Spring and dive right into 90 degree days of Summer. I hope not!!

The last few years I have either had off for the summer or worked a reduced schedule. Not this year! I will be working and the kids will be enjoying time with Nana as well as some camp programs I have enrolled them in. I am disappointed that I will have to work, but it really isn't that bad. I get off two weeks at the beginning of the summer and then a bit over 2 weeks at the end, so I get a bit of a break on either end!

Alyssa is going to be in the school "Variety" show this week. Who would have ever thought it? My extremely shy little girl is going to get up in front of the entire school and parents and "perform" with her Daisy Troop. It should be adorable. She is excited and I am sure they will all do a fantastic job.

Both of the girls are busy practicing for their dance recital in June and they are excited about that. Emily will get her 5 year award for dance and Alyssa will get her 3 year award. This year has been a bit of a struggle and neither one wants to dance next year. :-( I am disappointed, but they each have to find their passion and apparently Dance is not it. Alyssa LOVES soccer and has chosen to continue with that next year. She also starts weekly religion classes to prepare for her First Holy Communion, so she will be busy. Emily wants to take an instrument (yet to be determined) next year and also wants to give horse back riding a whirl. I know she will love it....that is what has me a bit nervous. That is a sport that can be a bit costly, but hopefully she won't want the competition end of the sport, just the learning to ride as a hobby and to take care of the horses and stables part of it. We'll see how it goes.

That's all for now. Lots of other happenings going on and I will post about those exciting events at a later date. I will try to post a video of the Variety Show after the show on Wednesday!!
