Did you hear the shreeks from my house?????

Yesterday was like any other crazy week night at our house. Rush home from work, start homework, feed them dinner, clean the kids up, start lunches for the next day and so on. Typical for most families I know. I have to admit that since school began in September I have been feeling slightly overwhelmed...tired...too much homework....a host of non-serious illnesses being passed around often enough that I have missed work, etc. I have been less than patient and I am woking on it. Thank goodness that my boss is WONDERFUL!!!!!!! She doesn't bat an eye lash when I have needed to leave early, come in late, call in sick, keep Alyssa with me at work because of babysitting conflicts etc. As a matter of fact, she told me about 3 times today that I NEEDED to go to the doctor. When I finally replied...."I don't have time to go to the doctor," she replied, "YES YOU DO....between the hours of 8-3:30!!!" How is that for support??? (This rant doesn't have ANYTHING to do with where this post is leading, but it felt good just to get that off of my chest LOL.) Life here is NORMAL.....TYPICAL.....CRAZY. Just like the lives of my friends and co-workers.

Okay back to the point of the screeches coming from home last night......

I am pretty careful about letting my girls use markers and scissors only when I am in the room to supervise because, let's face it, Alyssa is a spit fire. Emily is allowed to use markers unsupervised when Alyssa is napping or in bed for the night. Same for scissors. I was finally slowing down a bit to actually take a good look at my 5 year old last night and something looked weird about her hair. Now, those of you who know me (actually you all do hehehehe), know that I am a bit particular about my girls' hair. My heart began to beat a bit faster and I calmly said to her, "Emily, turn your head." It was at that very moment that a voice (a shreek, a scream, a possessed voice) erupted from my throat.........

WHAT DID YOU DOOOOOO??????????
With that the sobs and the apologies began....from Emily not me. You guessed it....SHE CUT HER HAIR!!! Can I add that I had to cancel her 5 year old pictures because she broke her nose and fractured her eye socket a week before those pictures were to be taken. Can I also add that we FINALLY got an appointment at my favorite Photography studio to get Holiday Pictures taken for NEXT WEEK!!!! Emily began to sob and gag and cry and apologize for about an hour. I was so angry. I think I scared her to death with the demon voice that she heard....I never heard that voice come out of my mouth either LOL. I was feeling kind of guilty that she was so upset, but GOOD, I wasn't going to let her off the hook. I called my cousin asking her to please come to my rescue!! She came over this afternoon (on her day off) to fix up the job that Emily started. It doesn't look too bad now, but it's not as cute or angled as it was either!!! She did a far better job at fixing it than I thought she would be able to do. THANK YOU AUNT KAREN!
I guess it was bound to happen. 5 has been hard. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Bossy. Bossy. Bossy. Tearful. Tantrums. Impatient. But cute, smart, artistic, cuddly, and so many wonderful things....THANK GOD.....because last night nearly sent me over the edge.
I am over it now LOL (almost), but this is the hardest job I have ever had!!!
Just give me more patience.......
Scissors are now a supervised only activity...even for the 5 year old who should know better. When I told her last night that she needed to "earn using scissors again" she understood why. It didn't stop her from asking her Nana this morning after I left for work if she "earned scissors back yet!" I think NOT, my darling girl, not yet!
No before or after pictures since I didn't want to play into this any more than my demon voice already had!!!!!!

Ok- the good thing is she didn't shave her hair off- things we have to look forward to- I am sorry this has happened. I know it is just a matter of time before someone's missing hair in our house.
